Essential Concept 1 (ALCOS Standard #22):

Students will be able to find the volume of right rectangular prisms using the formulas V = lwh and V = Bh, where V is the volume, l is the length of the prism, w is the width of the prism, h is the height of the prism, and B is the base area of the prism.

Essential Concept 2 (ALCOS Standards #25, 28):

Students will be able to identify types of statistical questions (as those that anticipate variability in data) and display numerical data in dot plots, histograms, and box plots.

Essential Concept 3 (ALCOS Standards #26, 27):

Students will be able to summarize the distribution of data by using measures for central tendency and variation.


1. Create and manipulate models (e.g., physical, graphical, conceptual) to explain the occurrences of day/night cycles, length of year, seasons, tides, eclipses, and lunar phases based on patterns of the observed motions of celestial bodies.
